Meet one of our adorable furry customers from Norway

We would like to introduce you to one of our new furry friends Tvinne.  She is a beautiful black dachshund who lives in Norway with her lucky owner Anne.  Anne purchased a Ruff Wear Daisy Collar from us for Tvinne.  Anne was looking for this exact collar, and we were thrilled we had exactly what she wanted! 

Meet Tvinne isn’t she just divine? We just love the view in the background also!

Valentine’s Day in Denmark

The Danish have three popular traditions in celebrating Valentine’s Day.  The youngsters take great care in following these traditions so that they will have successful and romance filled lives.  They give “lover’s cards” which is very popular, but they also give white flowers to their loves called “Snowdrops”.  They also write special love poems called “gaekkebrev”.  It is said that the men jot down love poems to their loves without signing them.  If their beloveds figure out who the poem is from then she will be rewarded with an Easter Egg on that year.

A Brief History of Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is celebrated with much joy and enthusiasm in France.  In fact the history of Valentine’s Day has a strong history with France.  It has been said that Valentine’s Day Cards originated in France.  A young Frenchman, Charles, Duke of Orleans is said to have written the first written Valentine’s Day Cards. The Duke who was captured at the Battle of Agincourt in 1415 is said to have written a poem or ‘Valentine’ to his wife while imprisonment in the Tower of London.
